Overview
Guatemala supports the operationalisation of the multilateral mechanism and the Cali Fund under Decision 16/2, while emphasising that both monetary and non-monetary benefits must effectively reach Parties and Indigenous peoples and local communities. It favours a cautious approach to the Fund’s development and considers discussions on product- and service-based contribution modalities premature. It advocates strengthening existing DSI databases rather than establishing a new global database. Guatemala also stresses capacity-building and data access for developing countries.
