Overview
Armenia hosts COP17 in Yerevan (19โ30 October 2026) and will hold the CBD Presidency for the following two years, giving it a central role in steering decisions on the Cali Fundโs allocation methodology, certificates, contribution modalities and review. It joined the Friends of the Cali Fund in December 2025 and has cooperated with the United Kingdom on building capacity to advance the Fund, including through private-sector engagement. Armenia became a Party to the Nagoya Protocol on 6 September 2026 and has yet to develop implementing ABS measures, which could in future cover DSI. As incoming Presidency it is expected to act as a broker rather than advance strong national positions.
Goals
- Deliver COP17 outcomes on allocation, certificates, contribution modalities and review
- Use the Presidency and the Friends of the Cali Fund to increase capitalisation of the Fund
- Build domestic ABS capacity following accession to the Nagoya Protocol
