Company overview
SoftBank Group is a Japanese investment company founded by Masayoshi Son. It owns most of the British chip designer Arm, runs the Vision Fund, which has invested in hundreds of technology start-ups around the world, and is one of the largest investors in OpenAI. It also controls the Japanese mobile operator SoftBank Corp. The group is increasingly focused on artificial intelligence, including data centres and AI chips. Its results depend largely on the value of the companies it invests in, which can rise and fall sharply from year to year.
