Roche is a Swiss healthcare company and one of the world's largest drug makers, as well as the global leader in medical diagnostics. Through its US company Genentech, it develops antibody medicines for cancer, eye diseases, multiple sclerosis and other conditions. Its diagnostics business makes tests that read DNA and RNA, including genetic sequencing technology, tests for infections such as HIV and hepatitis, and blood-glucose monitoring. Genetic sequence data is central to both businesses, from finding disease targets to designing tests and treatments.
