Company overview

Pfizer is one of the world's largest drug makers, based in New York. It produces medicines and vaccines for cancer, heart disease, infections, inflammation and rare diseases. Together with the German company BioNTech, it developed the first approved mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, which was designed directly from the virus's published genetic sequence within weeks. Pfizer also makes pneumonia vaccines, antibiotics and antivirals, many of which rely on genetic data from bacteria and viruses. In 2023 it bought the biotech company Seagen to expand its cancer treatments.
